Obtaining and Applying the Latest Patch or a New Build

Follow the instructions below to get the latest patch or a new build of EMS.

Facts about EMS Patches and Builds

Product defects may be addressed with a simple database update (i.e., “patch”) and do not necessitate the release of a new version of the product.  More complex issues must be addressed by code changes within the application and do necessitate the release of a new version (i.e., “new build”). To learn more about patches and builds, we recommend that you log into EMS Support. Applying the most current patch or build ensures that you are getting all outstanding fixes.

  • You can get patches and builds by logging into the online Support Center on the www.emssoftware.com website.
  • Patches are only required if you are experiencing an issue listed here.
  • Patches are released the first Friday of every month.
  • Patches may affect one or more EMS products.
  • Are cumulative.

Installing these patches and builds involves different steps depending on whether you are using EMS Professional (which uses Microsoft SQL Express 2008 R2 or higher) or EMS Enterprise, EMS Workplace, EMS Legal, EMS District or EMS Campus (Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 or higher).
